Empowering Youth Through Dynamic Training: Gabrovo Youth Centre Unites Active Minds

The Youth Centre in Gabrovo recently orchestrated a transformative training event from February 2nd to 4th, centred on “Youth Participation and Engagement.” This initiative brought together students from high schools, secondary schools, and the Youth Parliament in Gabrovo. The primary goal of the training was to foster unity among the youth, boost their motivation for active participation, enhance their self-management skills, and expand their opportunities for making meaningful impact.

Graciously hosted by the Municipality of Gabrovo, the training invited the Place Out! Project to introduce its upcoming activities and training designed to inspire community participation and facilitate collaboration between youth civil society organizations and local initiatives. The project placed a special emphasis on space regeneration and active participation.

The “Youth Participation and Engagement” training covered various aspects, including understanding different levels of youth participation, exploring the roles of student councils and the youth parliament, delving into the significance of “youth policies,” engaging in team tasks, and learning from successful youth initiatives in Bulgaria. Future training needs were discussed, paving the way for a comprehensive understanding of the evolving landscape of youth engagement.

One of the highlights of the training involved participants proposing and developing projects in five crucial areas: ‘Youth Leadership,’ ‘Health and Wellbeing,’ ‘Sport and Activity,’ ‘Culture and Creativity,’ and ‘Nature and Ecology.’ They then presented their projects to notable figures such as Mayor Tanya Hristova, Municipal Council Chairman Kliment Kunev, and Regional Education Department Director Julia Vlaeva. These community leaders pledged their support in bringing these youth-driven ideas to fruition and committed to regular meetings to address significant issues facing the young population in the city.

The activities of the Youth Centre – Gabrovo are implemented under the project № BGLD-2.001-0009 “Opportunity for young people – Establishment of a youth center in Gabrovo”, funded under the programme “Local development, poverty reduction and improved inclusion of vulnerable groups”, funded by the EEA FM 2014-2021.

It’s worth noting that the Youth Centre’s activities in Gabrovo are made possible through Project № BGLD-2.001-0009, titled “Opportunity for Young People – Establishment of a Youth Center in Gabrovo.” This project is funded under the “Local Development, Poverty Reduction, and Improved Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups” programme, supported by the EEA FM 2014-2021.
