Introduction

Mugello introduction

A few kilometres north from Florence, you can find the Mugello: a historic region and valley corresponding to the course of the River Sieve. Artists like Giotto, Beato Angelico and Andrea del Castagno were born here. The area is rich of history and artistic evidence and above all it is a land of different surroundings from the rugged beauty of the valleys of the Upper Mugello, to the sweet lines of the open basin dotted by the Mugello villages.

Beecom Association was born in Mugello, where it has grown thus far working, projecting, and having fun – along the way – with youngsters, institutions, students, youth-workers, and colleagues from the third sector.

What we’ve learned so far is that youngsters here are brimming with new ideas and dreams, and that youth policies can not be thought for them, but with them.

WP2 OUTPUT

Map of abandoned, unused or underused spaces

During the first six months of the Place Out! project, local partners mapped a number of abandoned, unused or underused spaces in order to increase knowledge of the four project territories and to provide a possible basis for the dialogue between institutions and youth organisations foreseen by the project.

The spaces can be viewed, with information on their history, structure and past or possible uses, on the map below.
