Introduction

Badajoz introduction

Badajoz is known for the historic sites of towns such as Alburquerque, Jerez de los Caballeros, Olivenza, Zafra and, above all, the capital of Extremadura, Mérida.

The city’s archaeological site has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Furthermore, the region attracts naturelovers due to its majestic holm oak meadows, spectacular mountain ranges, beautiful Mediterranean forests and in particular the Cornalvo Nature Reserve.

WP2 OUTPUT

Map of abandoned, unused or underused spaces

During the first six months of the Place Out! project, local partners mapped a number of abandoned, unused or underused spaces in order to increase knowledge of the four project territories and to provide a possible basis for the dialogue between institutions and youth organisations foreseen by the project.

The spaces can be viewed, with information on their history, structure and past or possible uses, on the map below.
